Step One of the Mystery is Revealed

Darlene @ Quilts by Darlene is hosting a Mystery Quilt that I signed up for.  If you'd like to join in, it's not too late.  You'll have all of January to do Step One.   Below is my version of Step One, measuring 24 1/2" by 28 1/2".  This will be a work-in-progress for 8 to 9 months, an honest "what's-in-my-closet-to-use" quilt.
The center 4 1/2" snowball blocks are from FQs I had in my "Magic Closet". They are Blackbird's Chelsea Boutique.  I recently made DIL a long scarf from the charm pack I had of this line.

The off-white is simply something I had  from Hobby Lobby.
And, the brown, tweed(ish) looking outer border is also from my stash, "Bonnie Blue's America" by Paula Barnes (as it reads on the selvage).  I bought this on clearance from FQS a long time ago.

And below:   Will, the "big one",  and Bailey getting tired of watching me sew.
Have a wonderful evening.  Hubby just told me he's treating me to the Diner so I don't even have to cook.  And I didn't clean today either.  I just spent time in my sewing room.  PRICELESS !!!

Hugs.

Yay to Scott for taking you out!! I'm working at the shop today, but I have leftovers so dinner is "in the bag." Or should I say refrigerator?
It's been a slow day at the shop so I was able to get the binding finished on my Hard Candy Christmas quilt!!! And now I'm checking blogs. :-) Better get back to work! Oh, and I love the start of your mystery quilt!

Nice dogs! I'm doing this QAL also but a little slow due to another QAL. Yours is beautiful. I have just a little of this fabric. I love it. Will post mine later.
