Unplanned Plans

Above a gift from Son and DIL.  Our Son does wonderful photography and the post cards in front are his work of one of their horses.  The bowl was made from horse rope by our DIL.  Yes - it's awesome!

A close up of the mug they had made for me of our precious Lily who passed away at age 5 from cancer.

Now for the "Unplanned Plans":  I didn't actually plan on it but I embroidered and sewed today. The redwork embroidered towels above will be given away.  The actual redwork was done several months ago.  I tend to embroider/sew things in the summer not knowing what they'll end up being.  The "plan" came together today using the embroidery.  It's so nice having things "ready" to use at any time.

A close up of the embroidery (redwork) done on pieces of felt. I then just blanket-stitched them on purchased linen towels I had in my stash.

I also embroidered two more linen towels today and sewed a charm "present" that I cannot share because they're for a family member that reads this blog.  So my ENTIRE day was spent in my sewing room with the 4 dogs!

One last picture of Lace Embroidery that I have been working on.  I am using Vilene in the hoop. This is my 830's JUMBO hoop and there are "8" pieces to be done!  I have them all completed but not yet put together.  This will my BIG project (even more so than a quilt) for someone special this Christmas! The stitchout time alone has added up to 11 hours!  I have yet to dip the pieces in warm water and sew them all together.  I will share a pic of the finished project after its delivery. (wink)

A few of the comments from the last post did not come through but it's getting better.  Maybe it's because I had left my blog for an extended period of time and Blogger is just realizing I'm back (LOL).  So if I did not comment back to you, please accept my apology.

Hugs.

Wow the photo is awesome! Is your SIL a professional photographer?

Love the embroideries! And can't wait to see the large one! I haven't attempted to make anything lace yet, but I won a CD at a Christmas open house yesterday so maybe next year. ;-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful gifts Cindy, as always! Vilene is great isn't it? I like it much better than the clear stuff.

Nice gifts - both received and made.
Are you using two layers of the Vilene? I find that doing that really adds to me success rate. (same for any WS that I have tried.)

Thanks, CJ. Yes, Vilene is my stabilizer of choice for any lace project.

For some reason, your comment didn't come through to my email, yet again. However the first two comments did come through.

Ah, blogger......

Hi Gene,

As I commented to CJ, only the first two comments came through to my email via blogger. Have no idea what's going on but I have no time right now to further look into it. I'm just going to start replying here on the blog, although it's not my choice to reply this way.

And, yes, I always use two layers of Vilene. It may be a tad more expensive than others, but it's well worth it. I order it in ten yards at a time.
